1. Nain (Season 3) had capital and business alliance with Pioneer Corporation to expand Field Assist Service

Nain has focused on “hearable” to free internet from a screen by developing apps, firmware, and devices. This alliance aims to expand the Field Assist Service in the industrial market, as well as applying Nain’s proprietary voice UI technology to in-vehicle mobility.

As a result, Nain, following its collaboration via investment from Takasago Thermal Engineering Co., Ltd., entered a collaboration as well as a capital and business alliance for a total of 260 million yen (2.4M USD) this round.

Nain will continue to raise funds for the expansion of its projects, such as AR Service, which utilizes Hearable technology in addition to the Field Assist Service.

2. Spectee (Season 2) forms capital & business partnership with Sony Business Solutions

Spectee announces that it has concluded a business alliance agreement with Sony Business Solutions Corporation by underwriting new shares through third-party allotment. The shareholding ratio of SBSC after this equity financing remains below 10%.

Spectee is a start-up company that specializes in analyzing various data especially on social media and sharing the latest information for disaster prevention and crisis management. In particular, Spectee promptly notifies of emergencies and allows clients to assess the situation in the event of disaster and accident, being proud to hold the largest market share in Japan in this field. Spectee’s service is already adopted by most mass media agencies such as television and newspaper companies. Apart from mass media, Spectee has many other clients such as the disaster management team in local governments and crisis management department of private enterprises.

3. Smart cat toilet, “toletta” (Season 9) raised 2M USD

Hachitama, a developer of toletta announced about 2 million USD fundraising from Monex Ventures and others for pre-series A round. With the round, a total amount of fundraising reaches about 4 million USD.

Smart cat toilet, toletta automatically acquires health data of cats when they enter the toilet to send alert to your smartphone. 2,000 cats have had used the service to send over 1 million health data. With the finance, the startup will develop AI based automatic health condition measure algorithm and communication system with veterinary doctors. (in Japanese)

4. Zest (Season 7), hacking labor shortage of home care, won the first prize at HIMSS & Health 2.0 Japan 2019

ZEST automates and optimizes the sourcing, scheduling and deployment of caregivers and healthcare professionals in the home care and home health industries. HIMSS & Health 2.0 Japan 2019 is a health tech conference jointly organized by Medpeer, Nikkei and HIMSS. Zest won the first prize as well as Aflac award among 6 health tech startups. (in Japanese)
