As part of the launch of the France-Japan Innovation Year and the visit of the French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, the French Tech EXPO was organized at museum, Miraikan in Odaiba on 4th and 5th of October. In the exhibition, Orange Fab held the joint booth with Business France, which had stands of 11 French startups, to exhibit 3 startups from Orange Fab France, C2S, Jacare Technologies, and Lucie Labs as well as 2 startups from Orange Fab Asia, Locarise and Spectee.
Along with Emanuel Macron, French Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs, and the delegation, Mr. Valls visited the booths of each startup which provided a brief presentation to the prime minister.
In the afternoon of the same day, French Tech Tokyo First Pitch Session was held at Digital Garage. In addition to the 11 French startups invited by Business France and the 5 Orange Fab startups who showcased at Miraikan, 4 Japanese startups recommended by Digital Garage joined in the pitch session and exhibition at booths. The event was co-organized by French Embassy and Digital Garage with support from BPI France and Orange Japan. Mr. Kaoru Hayashi, Group CEO of Digital Garage, Ms. Muriel Penicaud, CEO of Business France, Mr. Paul-Francois Fournier, Executive Director of Bpifrance, and Mr. Jean-Michel Serre, President of Orange Japan gave opening speech at the event.
After the pitch session, Mr. Macron announced the official launch of French Tech Tokyo followed by photo session with Japan-based French entrepreneurs. Mr. Thierry Mandon, Secretary of State for Higher Education and Research also gave speech after the announcement.
